This advanced course provides a thorough review of eddy currents and electromagnetism in general with specific reference to the conductivity of materials and its usefulness in checking the identity and heat treatment of light alloys.
Examinations are available which comply with the requirements of BS EN ISO 4179, other methods. They include General theory, specific theory, and practical elements.
The course includes but is not limited to:
Basic Electromagnetic Theory
Resistance and Resistivity, Frequency
Induction, Impedance, Capacitance
Magnetic behaviour of Materials, Conductors, Semi-conductors, Insulators
Properties which influence Eddy Currents
Lift off, Clad Materials, Painted Surfaces
Effects of Defects Present
Standard Depth of Penetration
Identification of Temper States
Detection of Heat Damage
Heat Treatment of Light Alloys
Lunches, refreshments, and a complete set of course notes will be provided during the course
